Channa Bambaradeniya provided technical inputs for the 1999 list of threatened fauna and flora of Sri Lanka. He functioned as the Chief Technical Advisor of the Project on Preparation of the 2007 List of Threatened Fauna and Flora in Sri Lanka (using IUCN Red Listing Crietria adapted at a regional scale), and compiled the publication. Channa also conducted training programmes on adaptation of IUCN global Red Listing Crietria and categories at a regional level, in south and south-east Asia. He provided inputs to the IUCN Species Information System Data Entry Module (IUCN SIS DEM) on species associated with the Stung Treng Ramsar site in Cambodia. Channa is currently facilitating the Sri Lanka Ministry of Environment – Biodiversity Secretariat to prepare the 2010 National Redlist of threatened plants and animals in Sri Lanka.
