Dr Harriet Davies‐Mostert is Head of Conservation at the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT), one of South Africa’s largest biodiversity conservation NGOs. The EWT has been actively involved in National Red Listing for nearly two decades, producing the Red Data Book of Mammals of South Africa in 2004, and currently working with the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) to undertake the first complete Red List revision of mammals of South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland. Harriet provides strategic scientific oversight to conservation projects across southern Africa, promoting practical evidence‐based research as the basis for effective strategies to conserve southern Africa’s rich biodiversity heritage. President of the South African Wildlife Management Association, Harriet is also a member of the Cat, Canid and Conservation Breeding specialist groups of the IUCN’s Species Survival Commission. She is an Extraordinary Lecturer at the Centre for Wildlife Management (University of Pretoria) where her main research interests are large carnivore ecology and conservation and the wildlife economy.
